Claire Scott pounded a match high 13 kills and Kesley Lochstampfor added 10 as Berry swept Piedmont in a volleyball match at Berry's Cage Center Tuesday night. Set scores were 31-29, 25-13, 25-13.

The Vikings charged back to win the first set after falling behind 6-0. The opening set featured a match high seven lead changes, compared to just three lead changes combined in the final two sets.

"The coaching staff challenged the team to stay aggressive and win the long rallies in this match, and I thought they did that very well," Berry coach Mika Robinson said.

Stephanie Quinn dished out a match-high 40 assists to go with 10 digs and six kills, while Scott tied for match-high honors with 20 digs.  Meredith Hopper collected eight kills and 10 digs, while Sarah Steffan chipped in six kills and 12 digs.

Berry recorded a .303 attacking percentage for the match, including .417 in the second set. Lochstampfor hit .600 (10 kills, 1 error, 15 attacks), as did Quinn (6-0-10), while Kiersten Hammock hit .444 (9-1-18), just missing double-digit kills with nine.

Berry finished with 70 digs in the match, 22 more than Piedmont.

"Piedmont is always a very strong defensive team, so for us to end with significantly more digs than they had says a lot about our defensive mentality tonight," Robinson said.

Piedmont's Kaitlin Norman and Rachel Powell each had five kills apiece while Paige Eslinger tied Scott for game-high honors with 20 digs.

Berry's next game will be Friday night, when the Vikings host Emory, the nation's second-ranked team, at the Cage Center at 7 p.m..

Notes: Berry senior Claire Scott was honored before the game for reaching 1,000 career points. She reached the milestone in Berry's match at Shorter University on Oct. 4.
