Blake Childers was named the Director of Sports Information and Promotions at Berry College in July of 2016.
He is a member of College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and serves on the organization's New Media Committee. During his time at Berry, he has overseen numerous conference and NCAA championships hosted in Mount Berry, Chattanooga and Birmingham. Childers also generated growth on the Berry Vikings Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages that now lead the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) in follows on each platform. Additionally, he oversaw a website redesign of BerryVikings.com and overhauled the department's free video streaming service for all home events.
Childers, a 2015 graduate of Berry, returned to his alma mater after spending a year with the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) as the league's Sports Information and Multimedia Assistant. In his time at the SCAC, he was the main contact for eight sports, while also handling the conference's video editing, interviewing and producing duties. Under Childers' guidance, the conference saw large gains in viewership for all video content, increasing video viewership by more than 300%.
Childers was a magna cum laude graduate in communication and held student-work positions in various areas including his roles as the student Photographic Services Coordinator for Berry's Office of Public Relations and Marketing, the Game Operations Supervisor for the Sports Information Office and the Sports Producer at Viking Fusion, Berry's student-run multimedia website.
Additionally, Childers worked with the Rome Braves (Single-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves) as an audio-visual assistant for three seasons where he oversaw in-game entertainment, video board operation and content creation for the team.
He and his wife Elizabeth Blount Childers (15C) reside in Rome.
