ATLANTA — Berry College's Laura Beier and Carson VanCampen swept the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Volleyball Player of the Week awards, the league office announced on Monday.
VanCampen earned the SAA Offensive Player of the Week honor and Beier was named the SAA Defensive Player of the Week after the duo led the Vikings to a 2-0 weekend against SAA competition.
Beier had 14 digs, two aces and averaged 4.67 stops per set in a matchup against Rhodes. Then on Sunday in a key match against the Warriors, Beier added three aces, 30 digs, and an average of 7.5 digs per set in the four-set victory.
In seven sets, VanCampen finished with an average of 3.0 kills. She hit .355 and finished with 23.5 points. Against Rhodes, she posted nine kills and a .389 attack percentage. She followed that up with a 12-kill performance against rival Hendrix.
The team closes out the conference slate this weekend with a Friday night matchup at Sewanee and a Saturday afternoon test at Centre.
