ROME, Ga. — The Berry College Athletics Department announced on Thursday a continued partnership with WRGA 98.7 FM and 1470 AM to broadcast the Berry football and basketball games.
"We are extremely excited to announce our continued partnership with Rome Radio Partners and WRGA for the upcoming season," Assistant Director of Athletics Derek Taylor said. "Tony McIntosh and Dave Garner do a tremendous job on the broadcasts, and are very popular amongst our fans. We look forward to hearing them call our games again this upcoming season. I would also like to thank Assistant Director of Athletics, David Beasley, and RRP Managing Partner, Mr. Howard Toole, for working together to broker a deal that we believe will be mutually beneficial for all parties."
For the upcoming football season, the award-winning duo of McIntosh and Garner will return to the booth for their fourth season covering the Vikings. The broadcast team was selected as the winner of the 2017 Georgia Association of Broadcasters' GABBY Award for Best Sports Play by Play Broadcast for their call of Berry's win over Centre from the 2016 season.
"The 2018-19 season is shaping up to be an exciting one," McIntosh said. "I'm very excited to continue our partnership with Berry and WRGA is happy to be a part of the energy."
Joining McIntosh and Garner this year, Kevin Karel will also be assisting on the football broadcasts during the season. Karol is currently the radio voice of the Rome Braves on 99.5 The Jock. The team also plans to continue extending work opportunities for current Berry College students.
