Cliff Flagello

The 2011-12 academic year will mark Cliff Flagello's thirdseason as Berry's pitching coach.

Under Flagello's guidance, Vikings pitchers put together a 23-17record and a 4.86 team earned run average in his first season in2010.  In 2011, Berry hurlers were 26-14 with a 4.63 teamERA.

Flagello came to Berry after playing in the Baltimore Oriolesfarm system. He was selected by the Orioles in the 25th round ofthe 2007 draft and worked as both a starting and relief pitcherwithin the organization. He received the 2008 Elrod Hendricks Awardfor Outstanding Community Service while also being selected to playin the Hawaiian Winter Baseball League in 2008.

In 2009 Flagello was selected to the 45-man roster for TeamItaly in the World Baseball Classic.

A native of Rome, Flagello comes to Berry with many years ofexperience under his belt. From 2003-2004, he attended GeorgiaState University in Atlanta, where he pitched six innings for thePanthers in the Atlantic Sun Conference. He was selected to theAll-Atlantic Sun Academic Team.

After leaving Georgia State, Flagello attended Shorter College.There, he anchored the Hawks team for three years and was selectedto the All-Southern States Athletic Conference first team.

Flagello also achieved in the classroom at Shorter and wasrecognized nationally as a Daktronics Scholar Athlete in 2007. Hewas an SSAC All-Academic team member all three years and receivedthe Joe Hackett Award in 2007. While at Shorter he posted a 3.7 GPAand was on the Dean’s List.

Before coming to Berry, Flagello coached a winter league teamthat consisted of 15 players, of various ages. He also worked as aprivate instructor at Extra Innings Indoor Facility inCartersville, Ga.

Flagello earned a BBA in Accounting from Shorter College in2007, and is currently pursuing an MBA at Berry.
