DANVILLE, Ky. – The Berry women's cross country team placed second with 57 points behind Centre (16) at the Centre College Invitational on Saturday.

In addition to Centre, Berry competed against colleges Lincoln Memorial, Berea, Transylvania, Kentucky State, St. Catharine, and Midway. The Vikings pack ran for the first two miles of the hilly 5K course. Berry's top five runners finished in the top 15 of the meet.

Sophomore Danielle Ferro led Berry. She finished seventh out of 50 runners and clocked in at 20:18. Senior and team captain Nicole Fredette posted a 20:32, placing eighth overall.

Freshman Nina Thomason finished 13th in 21:06. Junior Rachel Dorris clocked in at 21:07, placing 14th overall. Senior Hibah Abuhamdieh rounded out the top 5 with a 15th place finish in 21:17.

"Today was the best I have ever felt in a race, even though I was going at a faster pace," Abuhamdieh said. "It was great having my teammates around me to push me through the second mile and to stay strong throughout the race."

Senior Kayla Heflin raced a solid 22:46 (27th). Senior Annika Stryker posted a 24:25 (32nd).

The Berry women's cross country team will next compete at Rhodes Invitational in Memphis, Tenn. on September 27th at 9:40 a.m.
