The Lady Vikings competed in the second day of the Vulcan Invitational at the Birmingham CrossPlex facility. The women raced the 800 meters and the 3000 meters to finish their competition for the meet.
Senior Jenn Cook returned to the track after earning the school record in the mile the day before. Cook ran a successful 800 meter race with a time of 2:24.07 for 35th place. For Cook, her time was a personal best.
Also racing in the 800 meters was freshman Courtney Barker and senior Keri McGinnis. Barker, who favors the 800 meters as one of her favorite track events, ran a 2:29.22 for 42nd place. McGinnis, a dual-sport spring athlete, who is also a member of the tennis team, completed the 800 meter race in 2:30.53 for a 44th place finish.
The last event for the Lady Vikings was the 3000 meter race. Leading the women was senior Sara Walcott. Walcott earned a personal record in the race with a time of 10:42.69 for 24th place overall. Walcott not only earned an outstanding time personally, but she also won her heat and had an impressive finishing kick.
The Lady Vikings will compete again on March 3rd at the University of North Florida.
