Caitlyn Moriarty was named head volleyball coach at Berry College in February 2016. Moriarty served as Berry's assistant volleyball coach from 2012-2015.

In her first year as head coach, the Vikings posted a 23-10 record and reached the Southern Athletic Association Championship match, finishing as runner-up in the SAA and ranking third in the NCAA South Region. Moriarty has improved the Vikings’ blocks-per-set from 1.03 in 2011 to 2.73 in 2016--which ranked first in NCAA Division III volleyball during the 2016-2017 season. She coached six SAA All-Conference players, including the 2016 SAA Defensive Player of the Year, libero Katie Truluck. Additionally, Moriarty guided and developed three first team All-South Region players and three American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Americans in 2016. As an assistant coach, Moriarty helped Berry teams earn two SAA regular season championships, two conference tournament titles and two NCAA Division III Championship appearances.

She played at Christopher Newport from 2007-10, earning AVCA All-American honors twice. A first team All-Conference and All-South Region selection in each of her final two years as a player, Moriarty was the USA South Player of the Year, Tournament MVP and the Most Outstanding Player at the New York Regional Tournament in 2009. As a senior, Moriarty was named to the USA South All-Tournament team, and was the Most Outstanding Player at the Newport News Regional Tournament. She also earned first team Virginia DII/DIII All-State honors twice.

In her four years at CNU, the Captains had a record of 140-24 (.853). She helped her team to an undefeated USA South Conference four-year record of 72-0. In 2010, she set the CNU team record for the highest single season attack percentage (.417). Moriarty also owns program records for a career attack percentage (.347), leading to the creation of a program Offensive Player of the Year award in her name.

After graduating from Christopher Newport, Moriarty became an assistant coach at her alma mater in 2011. With Moriarty on the sidelines, CNU recorded a 38-5 overall record on the way to an NCAA Division III national runner-up finish in 2011. That season saw Christopher Newport win its fifth straight conference championship, third straight regional championship and make its first ever appearance in the national championship match.

She was a strong student at CNU, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Marketing upon graduation in May of 2011. She was an NCAA Woman of the Year Nominee and the Female Recipient of the Don Scalf Award, presented to the USA South Conference Student-Athlete of the Year in 2010-11. In May 2014, Moriarty earned her Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Berry College.

On January 28, 2017, Moriarty was inducted in the Christopher Newport University Athletics Hall of Fame. Moriarty is a proud member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) and earned the AVCA’s Thirty Under 30 Award in 2016.

Moriarty lives in Rome with her husband Sean.
