Volleyball Splits to Close UMW Invitational

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. — The Berry Volleyball team opened Saturday with a 3-0 victory over Susquehanna before falling to Johns Hopkins in straight sets to close the night.

Berry dominated the opening match of the day, winning with set scores of 25-13, 25-18 and 25-10. Carson VanCampen collected nine kills with Emily Hancock, Hannah Billiard and Micayla Bedoian all collecting seven. Elizabeth Ragland totaled 21 digs in the win. 

The Vikings totaled 14 blocks against Johns Hopkins, but were tripped up by the Blue Jays' 46 total kills. Hancock added 12 kills of her own and had a .344 kill percentage. Hannah Kate Thompson also had a solid game, earning 19 assists and 12 digs.

NOTABLES:

  • After two weekends of strong out-of-conference tournament competition, the Vikings will return home sporting a 5-3 record, currently the second best in the SAA.
  • Hancock is also No. 3 in the league with 3.08 kills per set. Ragland is No. 5 with 4.60 digs per set and Thompson leads the league with 8.96 assists per set.
