Volleyball Closes Colorado Tournament with Split

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Berry College volleyball team rounded out play in Colorado, splitting matches against Colorado College and Ithaca on Saturday. The Vikings fell to Colorado 3-0 but rebounded for a 3-2 win against Ithaca in the nightcap.

Colorado College jumped out to an early lead in the Vikings' first outing of the day, winning the first set 25-17. Berry then kept the second set within two points, but the Tigers held off the Vikings, 25-23. Colorado finished the match with a 25-9 third set to earn the sweep.

Ithaca took the first set against the Vikings as well, 28-26. Berry then won the next two sets, 25-19, and 25-22, before falling 28-26 in the fourth set. The Vikings finished the match with a fifth set 15-9 victory to ensure the 3-2 win.

Berry will travel to Fredericksburg, Va., on Friday, Sept. 8 to kick off play in the UMW Invitational against the University of Mary Washington at 7:30pm.
