Vikings Track & Field Set to Open Indoor Season at Vanderbilt

By Meredith Herman, Sports Information Assistant

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – The Berry College Track and Field teams will be traveling to Nashville, Tenn., this weekend, opening their indoor season at the Vanderbilt University Opener.

This will be the earliest the Vikings have started their season, and they will be traveling with a select group of athletes based off fall training. Featured teams include Vanderbilt University, University of Memphis, Belmont University, University of Louisville and Western Kentucky University.

“It’s going to be a great opportunity to get our first meet in before Christmas, especially with this type of competition,” Head Coach Luke Syverson said. “After the women placed third and the men fourth at the Southern Athletic Association Conference Championship, it will be great to see where we are and an even better opportunity for the freshmen to get rid of some pre-race jitters.”
