Lady Vikings Earn Team Scholar All-American Honors

ROME, Ga. - For the second consecutive year, Berry College's women's swim team has been honored for its academic performance by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America.

The Lady Vikings achieved Team Scholar All-American honors from the CSCAA after posting a 3.06 overall grade point average this past semester.  Berry earned the same honor last year in the swim team's first year of existence.

"I am so proud of the Lady Vikings swimmers for accomplishing Scholar All-American status for the second season in a row," Berry head coach Paul Flinchbaugh said. "It is truly my honor  to work with such a great group of ladies who have shown that earning this accolade is now a tradition they intend to continue well into the future.

"When the Collegiate Swim Coaches Association of America recognized the inaugural team of 2009-10, I immediately saw spark within the women and knew it was their desire to continue to earn this award. Moving ahead to this season the incoming freshmen not only recognized the significance of the accomplishment, but were determined to help the team continue to earn this accolade as well."

Berry's women's team is coming off a sixth-place performance in the Appalachian Swim Conference championships earlier this month.
