MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – Beata Brock scored a career-high two goals in the contest, but the Berry College women’s soccer team fell to Birmingham-Southern College 3-2 on Friday night.
Brock opened the night’s scoring with a tally in the 26th minute, as she beat a Panthers’ defender to find the back of the net and give Berry a 1-0 lead. The Vikings remained ahead at the half, 1-0. Brock then scored her second goal of the night in the 80th minute. Pushing her way past the defense, Brock gave Berry a 2-0 lead with just over ten minutes to go in the contest.
The Vikings then surrendered three unanswered goals in the final ten minutes of regulation play, as Birmingham-Southern rallied for the 3-2 comeback victory. Abby Kay Choate scored the Panthers’ first goal of the night in the 81st minute, assisted by Sydney Barrow, to cut the lead to 2-1. Barrow then added her own goal less than two minutes later, finding the net in a packed box to tie the game at 2-2. Nicole Bernal earned the assist on Barrow’s goal before finding the back of the net herself for the Panthers, with just over 30 seconds to play. Her long shot to the back of the net, just under the cross bar, gave the Panthers’ their first lead of the night in the 89th minute, ensuring the 3-2 victory.

The Vikings will host Millsaps College in their next SAA matchup on Sunday, Oct. 15 at 2:30pm for Senior Day.
