Mathews Earns First Career Goal, Berry Tops Oglethorpe 1-0

ATLANTA — Freshman Kirbi Mathews delivered Berry’s lone goal of the day in the Viking’s 1-0 win over the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels Saturday afternoon to close out regular season play.

The Vikings had strong offensive pressure throughout the game with 25 shots and seven shots on goal for the afternoon. Mathew’s first career goal caught the back of the net in the 50th minute to give Berry the lead. Defensively, Viking’s goal keeper Jackie McGivney maintained Berry’s lead with five saves on the day. The Vikings also held Oglethorpe to just nine shots.
