Lady Vikes Take Advantage of Three First-Half Goals in Win

After not finding the net in their first three matches, Berry's women's soccer team made up for it against Agnes Scott Friday, tallying three first-half goals and defeating the Scotties 3-2 in a non-conference match in Atlanta.

The Lady Vikings (1-3) needed just 42 seconds to score the match's first goal, which came when Molly Johnson scored off a flick by Courtney Weber

The Scotties (2-4) quickly retaliated by scoring on a corner kick only a minute later.

In the 14th minute, Berry's Ally Byrd stepped up and scored on a ball sent in off of a corner by Kim Fischer. Leah Hatheway gave Berry a 3-1 advantage when she scored unassisted in the 26th minute.

Lindsey Caldwell, a strong defender on the Berry squad, held her own against a tough opponent as she helped her team hold a 3-1 lead at the end of the first half.

The Scotties came back in the first half looking to equalize, and scored their second goal, again off of a corner kick, in the 53rd minute. Berry goalkeeper Rebekah Bullock defended the goal well for the remaining 37 minutes of the match. Overall, Bullock had four saves, bringing her season total to 10.

Berry returns to action Saturday at 3 p.m., against Emmanuel at Berry's Ford Field. That match will be preceded by the men's match at 1 p.m.
