ROME, Ga. -- Sewanee (7-6, 4-1 SAA) defeated Berry (5-5, 3-2) 17-8 on Sunday.
Berry started slow in the game, and Sewanee took advantage leading at the half 12 to 2. The Vikings won the second half 6 to 5, but could not muster enough strength to over come the ten goal deficit.
The Vikings started slow by giving up eleven straight goals but got on track by scoring two quick goals by Angelica Miller and Blair Shupenko to end the first half. Shupenko and Miller totaled three ground balls in the matchup.
BC played neck-and-neck with the Tigers in the second half. Berry spread the goals around by getting five different players to score at least one goal; Clara Bissell scored two goals in the second half and had one assist.
The Vikes' goalie, Taylor Martin, corralled ten saves in the game.
Sewanee had three different players tally three goals each: Sally Anne Greenwood, Brita Brudvig, and Mallory Grimm.
The Vikings take on Huntington College at Ford Field on Tuesday April 1st at 4 p.m.
