Women's Lacrosse Lost to Piedmont, 10-5

ROME, Ga. – After tying the game with four unanswered goals, Berry's women's lacrosse team lost to Piedmont College, 10-5, on Wednesday afternoon at Ford Field. Piedmont scored six of game's final seven goals.

Berry fell to 4-5 overall. Piedmont remained perfect at 9-0.

Piedmont opened with the game's first four scores and led 4-0 over five minutes into the first half. Berry responded with four tallies of its own, two apiece by Kim Fischer and Kristan Dziurzynski, knotting the score up, 4-4, at 2:02. Piedmont regained the lead on a Megan McDowell goal at 1:45 to leave the field with a 5-4 edge at halftime.

Piedmont continued to widen its lead as it notched five of the six goals in the second half. Elizabeth Flatt's score at 11:51 accounted for Berry's lone goal in the final 32 minutes.

Berry had two players record two-goal outings as Dziurzynski and Fischer each picked up two, and Claire Rosenberg added two assists. Maggie McDonald and McDowell scored three apiece for Piedmont.

Piedmont's Carly Haraka earned the win in goal and had eight saves. Berry's Taylor Martin took the loss and made two stops.

The Vikings will return to action next Wednesday for its Southern Athletic Association opener against Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Ga. Start time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
