Jenny Miller and Kristan Dziurzynski scored five goals apiece, and Rachel Aiken and Elizabeth Flatt each scored four times to help lead Berry's women's lacrosse team to a 22-21 victory over Sewanee Friday in Sewanee, Tenn.
The Vikings (6-4-1) came back from a five-goal deficit in the first half to earn the win.
Berry held its lone lead of the first 30 minutes when Aiken scored her second straight goal to give the Vikings a 3-2 advantage just over six minutes into the contest.
But Sewanee's Caroline Murphy scored 1:26 later to tie the score, the first of three straight goals by the Lady Tigers, who would hold onto the lead for the rest of the half and through the first 20 minutes of the second half.
The Lady Tigers led 13-8 before Flatt scored just six seconds before the intermission to pull Berry to within four goals at halftime.
The Vikings clawed back in the second half, tying the score 15-15 on Blair Shupenko's score with 14:39 left in the game. Sewanee's Olivia Vietor answered at the 11 minute mark to give the Tigers the lead again, but Miller tied the score one more time 54 seconds later, and Flatt followed with another goal with 9:10 to play that gave Berry a 17-16 lead, it's first lead in more than 43 minutes.
Berry's lead would grow to 20-17 after a goal by Dziurzynski and two more by Flatt, but Vietor would find the net to make the score 20-18 with 3:12 remaining. Aiken answered with 1:59 left to give the Vikings a three-goal cushion once again, only to have the Tigers storm back with a pair of goals just 15 seconds apart that made the score 21-20 with just over a minute left.
Sewanee won the ensuing draw, but Vietor turned the ball over, and the Vikings tood advantage when Aiken scored with 33 seconds on the clock to give Berry a 22-20 lead.
But the Lady Tigers would need just 12 seconds to pull back to within a goal on a score by Sally Anne Greenwood with 21 seconds remaining.
Berry's Katie Harber took control of the following draw, and the Vikings were able to seal the win.
Shupenko scored twice for Berry, while Harber and Alex Garza joined the scoring parade with a goal each for the Vikings.
Greenwood and Meg Welton led Sewanee with four goals each.
Taylor Martin finished with 10 saves in goal for Berry, while Sewanee goalie Amy Nusbaum had 13 in the loss.
The game marked the sixth time this season Berry has scored at least 20 goals in a game, with the Vikings putting together a 5-1 record in those contests. Berry has scored in double figures in all but one game so far this season.
Berry is scheduled to return to action April 5, when it hosts Agnes Scott at 5 p.m.
