Berry's Jenny Miller and Elizabeth Flatt scored three goals apiece, but Lynchburg defeated the Vikings 17-7 in a women's lacrosse game in Lynchburg, Va., Saturday.
Lynchburg (1-0) led 13-0 at halftime and added the first two goals of the second half to go ahead 15-0 with 25 minutes remaining in the game.
Kristan Dziurzynski scored the Vikings' (1-3) first goal with 21:06 remaining in the contest. After another Lynchburg goal, Miller scored three straight goals in a span of 6:22. Lynchburg then put one more goal on the board before Flatt scored three times in the game's final 2:42.
Lynchburg held a small advantage in the shot totals, outshooting the Vikings 22-19. Seventeen of those 22 Lynchburg shots came in the first half, compared to just five by Berry, and 13 of those 17 shots in the first 30 minutes found the net.
Lesley Buckingham led Lynchburg with a game high six goals.
Berry goalie Taylor Martin finished with three saves. Christina Tran started in goal for Lynchburg, recording three first-half saves before giving way to Hailey Bossert, who saved four shots in the final 30 minutes.
Berry returns to action Sunday at Randolph.
