Anya Dziurzynski Leads Berry to 22-2 Win over LaGrange
ROME, Ga. - Anya Dziurzynski scored five goals and assisted on five others to help lead Berry's women's lacrosse team to a 22-2 victory over LaGrange at Berry's Ford Field Tuesday.
Berry scored 14 of its goals in the first half and led 18-0 before LaGrange scored on Kelsey Griffin's free position shot with 16:24 remaining in the game.
LaGrange's other goal also came on a free position shot, when Marti Williams scored with 3:34 left to make the score 21-2.
But the game was dominated by the Vikings (4-5), who outshot the Panthers 53-5 in the game, including a 33-0 shot advantage in the first half.
Berry's defense forced 33 turnovers and allowed LaGrange to clear just four of 25 attempts in the contest.
Dziurzynski scored on five of the seven shots she attempted. She was one of 10 Berry players to score at least one goal. Dziurzysnki's sister, Kristan, scored three goals, while Jenny Miller, Katie Harber, Kristen Brooks, Blair Shupenko, Kaylee Lane and Kimberly Slade each scored twice, and Royale Cole and Leigha Caroland scored once apiece.
Miller and Lane dished out three assists apiece. Brooks, Shupenko and Casey Cox also delivered an assist.
Berry goalie Taylor Martin had three saves.
The Vikings are scheduled to return to action Saturday at Sewanee.
