Sheppard Fires 81 To Lead Berry On Tournament's First Day

Lacey Sheppard Shot 81 Sunday to lead Berry's women's golf team on the first day of the Rhodes Fall Classic at The Links at Cottonwoods in Tunica, Miss.

Berry shot 351 as a team in the first round and enters Monday's round in seventh place.

Two other Lady Vikings shot in the 80s Sunday, with Nikki Cline carding an 86 and Chelsea Hoag finishing with an 88.  Lauren Buschhorn also contributed to the team score by shooting 96, while Nicole Wood shot 110.

Centre College leads the team standings with a first-round 323, four strokes ahead of second place Birmingham-Southern.  Bethel is third at 334, followed by Illinois Wesleyan (337), Rhodes (339), Texas-Tyler (341) and Berry.  Oglethorpe (358), Hannibal LaGrange (364) and Hendrix (436) round out the team standings.

The tournament concludes Monday.
