Lady Vikings Finish 11th at Southern Shootout
Berry's Nikki Cline shot a team-best round of 78 Monday as the Lady Vikings finished 11th in the team standings at the Southern Shootout, hosted by Birmingham-Southern College at Highlands Park Golf Course in Birmingham.
Berry shot 331-330-631 in the tournament.
Cline's 78 was the best round by a Berry player in either of the tournament's two rounds, and gave her a 36-hole total of 162 after she shot 84 Monday. Cline tied for 40th in the individual standings.
Berry's Lacey Sheppard and Chelsea Hoag were among the players tied for 43rd place with a 164 total. Sheppard shot 80-84-164, while Hoag shot 84-80-164. Nicole Wood tied for 64th at 83-88-171 and Lauren Buschhorn finished 83rd at 89-94-183.
Lee University, led by individual medalist Courtney Shelton, won the tournament by 11 strokes. The Lady Flames shot 289-288-577.
Shelton won a four-way playoff to earn the medal. She shot 73-67-140.
Columbus State was second in the team standings after shooting 299-289-588. Methodist (299-297-596), Shorter (308-295-603) and North Georgia (317-314-631) joined Lee and CSU in the top five.
Southwestern (317-320-637), Spring Hill (320-320-640), Piedmont (321-321-642), Birmingham-Southern (311-334-645) and SCAD-Atlanta (330-327-657) rounded out the top 10.
The Lady Vikings are scheduled to return to action Oct. 16-17 at the Rhodes Fall Classic.
