Sheppard Shoots 80 To Lead Lady Vikings Sunday

Berry's women's golf team shot 331, good enough for 11th place, in the first round of the Southern Shootout, hosted by Birmingham-Southern College at Highland Park Golf Course in Birmingham Sunday.

The Lady Vikings were led by Lacey Sheppard, who shot 80 and is tied for 35th place heading into Monday's final round. 

Nicole Wood, Chelsea Hoag and Nikki Cline also contributed to Berry's team score.  Wood is tied for 50th after shooting 83 and Hoag and Cline are each tied for 55th with a first-round 84.

Lauren Buschhorn shot 89 is tied for 74th.

Lee sits atop the team leaderboard after firing a 298 Sunday, 10 strokes better than Methodist and Columbus State, respectively, who are tied for second place.

Shorter's Lisa Persson, who won the individual medal last week at Berry's Chick-Fil-A Collegiate Invitational, and Lee's Geandra Almeida are tied for first place in the individual standings.  Persson and Almedia each shot 70.  They hold a one-stroke advantage over Methodist's Kelsey Magnine, Columbus State's Nikki Crowley and Lee's Kristin Bourg.

The tournament is scheduled to conclude Monday.
