Lacey Sheppard, Chelsea Hoag Pace Lady Vikings at Chick-Fil-A Collegiate

Lacey Sheppard and Chelsea Hoag each shot 84 to help Berry move up a spot in the standings on the final day of the Chick-Fil-A Collegiate Invitational at Stonebridge Golf Club in Rome Tuesday.  The Lady Vikings finished seventh in the 13-team field.

Berry shot 350-342-692 in the 36-hole event.

Sheppard just missed earning All-Tournament honors, tying for sixth place with a 36-hole score of 78-84-162.  Hoag tied for 30th at 90-84-174, and finished one stroke ahead of teammate Nikki Cline, who tied for 32nd at 86-89-175. 

The Lady Vikings' Nicole Wood tied for 44th at 97-85-182 and Morgan Johnston tied for 58th at 96-98-194.

Four Berry players participated as individuals in the tournament, led by Eftihia Kountakis, who was among the players that tied Johnston for 58th.  Kountakis shot 100-94-194. 

Berry's Lauren Buschhorn finished 67th at 112-93-205, Cady Clark shot 103-104-207 to tie for 68th and Ellen Rayburn finished 73rd at 112-122-234.

Shorter, led by medalist Lisa Persson, who fired a 36-hole score 74-72-146, won the team championship.  The Hawks shot 315-314-629, defeating second place Birmingham-Southern (340-314-654) by 25 strokes.

Coastal Georgia (331-332-663) finished third, followed by Southwestern (337-337-674), Piedmont (334-349-683), Young Harris (339-346-685) and Berry.

Marian (349-356-705), Huntingdon (353-360-713) and Oglethorpe (364-365-729) rounded out the top 10.

Persson was joined on the All-Tournament team by Birmingham-Southern's Ellen Chun, Young Harris' Courtney Moore, Southwestern's Hannah Mason and Shorter's Gabriele Murcia. 

Berry is scheduled to return to action Oct. 9-10 at the Southern Shootout, hosted by Birmingham-Southern College.
