Hoag Leads Berry on First Day of Tournament

Berry's Chelsea Hoag shot 84 as the Lady Vikingsfinished the first round of the Eat A Peach Collegiate, hosted by Mercer University at Oakview Golf Club in Macon, in eighth place Sunday.

Hoag is tied for 23rd place individually, and is one of two Lady Vikings to shoot in the 80s Sunday.  Berry teammate Lacey Sheppard shot 88, and is tied for 32nd in the individual standings. 

As a team, Berry shot 366.  Nicole Wood and Morgan Johnston also contributed to the team score, shooting 94 and 100, respectively.  Wood is tied for 46th, while Johnston is in 53rd. 

Berry's Lauren Buschhorn shot 102 and is tied for 55th.

Mercer closed the round in first place with a 295 team score, as all five of the players in the Bears' lineup are ranked in the top five.  Mercer's Sarah Louie Brown and Lacey Fears each shot 73 and are tied for second, while teammate Aurelie Wiriath is fourth at 74 and Mary Alice Murphy and Kimberly Graff are tied for fifth at 75.

Everyone is trailing Shorter's Fiona Cooper, who shot 71 and enters Monday's final round with a two-shot lead in the individual standings.

The Hawks are in second place in the team standings with a 306 mark, followed by Armstrong Atlantic (329), Coasta Georgia (336), Piedmont (340), SCAD-Atlanta (347), Oglethorpe (348), Berry, Reinhardt (370) and Truett-McConnell (383).

Berry's players will tee off beginning at 9:30 a.m., Monday.
