Women's Basketball Falls to Top-Seeded Petrels in SAA Semifinals

ATLANTA – Jana Morning remained hot for the Vikings, finishing the season with her first double-double of the year, as the Berry College women's basketball team fell to No. 1 Oglethorpe University 75-54 in a Southern Athletic Association (SAA) semifinal matchup on Saturday night. 

Berry finishes the season 13-14 overall.

Morning finished with 11 points and a game-high 14 rebounds in the contest, although the Vikings shot only 25.0-percent (18-for-72) as a team. Nia Smith also contributed to Berry's offense, leading all-scorers with 18 points.

Oglethorpe's Taylor Dodson led the Stormy Petrel offense, finishing the night with 13 points, as the top-seed shot 46.0-percent (23-for-50) in the win. Oglethorpe also led the matchup in rebounds (51-42), assists (18-6) and blocks (8-1), while Berry finished ahead in steals (12-3). While the Vikings started the contest behind 35-18 at halftime, Berry finished strong, scoring 18 points in each of the last two quarters.

Oglethorpe improves to 20-7, advancing to the SAA Championship game tomorrow.
