Women's Basketball Wins Overtime Thriller on Senior Day

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Berry college women's basketball team beat Birmingham Southern in a close game with a final score of 59-58 on the Vikings' senior day. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Vikings ended the first quarter with a leading score of 26-12, one of their best opening periods of the year.
  • Berry led by as much as 17 in the first half, but the Panthers were able to rally to outscore the Vikings in the second half, forcing the game to OT
  • In overtime, Nia Smith was able to sink the game-winning free throw to push the Vikings ahead.
  • For the game, Berry was solid from the charity stripe, nailing 17-21 free throws.
  • The Vikings also capitalized on turnovers, scoring 13 after stealing possessions.

  • Kristin Rampersad: 11 points, 2-2 FT, 2 assists, 2 rebounds

  • Jameice Holmes: 12 points, 3-5 FT, 2 assists, 4 rebounds
  • Camillia Carter: 11 points. 1-2 FT, 1 assists, 4 rebounds, 1 steal

NOTABLES:

  • Weems notched another double-double with 18 points and 10 boards.
  • After Friday night's narrow loss to conference-leading Millsaps, the Vikings rallied to defeat BSC who is in contention to host the SAA tournament.
