Berry guard Mel McLean came off the bench to score a team high 19 points and help lead the Lady Vikings to a 74-60 victory over Covenant in Berry's season finale Tuesday night at the Cage Center.
McLean hit 7-of-9 shots from the field, including 5-of-6 from 3-point territory.
Berry (8-14) led for all but eight seconds, jumping out to a 9-0 lead and raising the lead to as many as 15 points when Alexa Evans hit a 3-pointer with 10:52 remaining in the opening half.
But Covenant (5-19) stormed back, scoring the next 16 points to go ahead 27-26 with four minutes to play in the half.
McLean answered with a trey eight seconds later, and the Lady Vikings would never trail again. Berry took a 39-31 lead into the locker room at the intermission, then scored the first seven points of the second half. The Lady Vikes' lead remained in double figures the rest of the way.
Allison Lawrence led Berry with six rebounds, helping the Lady Vikings outrebound the Scots 42-32.
Covenant's Jessie Blankenship recorded game highs of 21 points and seven rebounds. She was joined in double figures by Ruth Gibson, who scored 11 points, and Christine Core, who chipped in 10.
Following the game, Berry honored Coughlan, the team's lone senior, who was playing her final game in a Berry uniform.
