LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Berry College softball team has received another round of academic honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) for their academic success during the 2016-17 season.
Under head coach Cori Thiermann, the program earned All-Academic Team recognition after posting a 3.48 team GPA, the 34th best Division III softball team GPA in the nation. Only one other Southern Athletic Association team, Rhodes College, ranked higher than Berry, posting a team GPA of 3.54. Hendrix College rounded out SAA All-Academic Team recognition, ranking 52nd with a team GPA of 3.43.
A total of 11 Vikings also earned Easton/NFCA Scholar-Athlete recognition, after boasting an individual GPA of 3.5 or higher during the 2016-17 campaign. These athletes include: Kylie Aiken, Sarah Brown, Marie Collop, Lauren Evans, Kenzie Fleming, Kassie Howard, Bethany Hunt, Sarah Moore, Kayla Sangrey, Genna Telschow and Brittany Tuttle.
The Berry College softball team finished the 2016-17 season with a program best 40-4 overall record, as well as their third straight conference title.
