ATLANTA - Berry softball's Kassie Howard collected her second Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Pitcher-of-the-Week honor of the season after leading the Vikings to a 3-1 week in California.
Improving to a perfect 9-0 in the circle, Kassie Howard led the Berry College softball team to a 3-1 week. She tossed all seven innings in the Vikings' 3-0 victory over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Tuesday, allowing only four hits and no runs, while striking out four in the contest. She then tossed another five innings against Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday, allowing only one hit while striking out five en route to the 5-0 victory.
On the week, Howard boasted a perfect 0.00 ERA, while holding her opponents to a mere .122 batting average. She added nine strikeouts and allowed only five hits in her 12 innings of work as well. Howard currently ranks in the top five in all pitching categories in the conference, including ERA (1.07), wins (9), strikeouts (75) and saves (1).
Behind Howard, the No. 1-ranked Vikings are now 21-1 on the season.
