Berry Sweeps Its Way Through CiCi's Spring Break Challenge

Berry's softball team swept its way through the CiCi's Pizza Spring Break Challenge in Memphis, adding a 9-1 win over Eureka and an 8-0 shutout of Westminster Sunday to a pair of victories on Saturday's opening day of the event.

Caillee Shamoun struck out five batters in a complete-game victory over Eureka in a game stopped after six innings of play due to the NCAA run rule. 

Sara Vigue homered for the Vikings, highlighting a performance in which she went 3-for-3 and also scored a pair of runs against Eureka. 

Kristen Stoll also scored twice while going 1-for-2 with a couple walks. 

Berry outhit Eureka 10-5 in the game.

The Vikings' victory over Westminster was halted after five innings.

In that game, Stoll and Jessica washington were each 2-for-2 with a walk and drove in a run.  Stoll scored twice, and Washington scored once.

Krista Woody delivered the game's big blow with a bases-loaded double.  She was 2-for-3, driving in three runs and scoring once in the process.

Berry pitcher Andrea Cole limited Westminster to four hits in a five inning complete-game effort.

The Vikings travel to Orlando for five games during the upcoming week, including contests against Fairleigh Dickinson and Bethel on Tuesday.
