Former Berry Cross Country Standout Qualifies for Ironman World Championship

BALL GROUND, Ga. — Zack Jordan, a 2015 graduate of Berry College, has qualified for the 2018 Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii just one race into his Ironman career.

Jordan earned his spot by winning the Arizona Ironman late last month, finishing the 140.6-mile triathlon in 9 hours, 8 minutes and 50 seconds. Not only did Jordan win to earn the race’s lone qualifying spot, he dominated nearly every aspect of the race. He won his age group for the 112-mile bike ride in 4:54:51, then won the 26.2-mile running portion in 3:02:53.

Running for Berry from 2011-14, Jordan was a two-time All-Conference runner and helped the Vikings to back-to-back runner up finishes at the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Championships in 2013 and 2014. Jordan also served as a team captain during his senior year and was selected as the team MVP.

The Ironman World Championship will take place in October of 2018.
