Berry Finishes Second at YHC Invitational
Blake Bannister finished third overall to help Berry College's men's cross country team finish second at the Young Harris College Invitational in Young Harris, Ga., Saturday.
Georgia College won the event with 24 points, followed by Berry with 32 points and Young Harris with 78 points.
Bannister finished the 8K course in a time of 29:04.96. He was one of five Berry runners to finish among the top 10, not including Berry coach Paul Deaton, who finished fourth with a time of 29:07.18. Deaton ran unattached.
Bert Harrison finished sixth with a time of 29:31.28, while Jonathan Horn (8th, 29:40.03), Ryan James (9th, 29:41.34), Ian Adams (10th, 29:41.77) and William Anthony (11th, 29:45.67) all came in within about five seconds of one another to finish 8th-11th, respectively.
Mattew Rego finished 13th overall after finishing in a time of 29:57.32, while Brandon Davis and Dylan Munsey joined him in the top 20. Davis was 15th after finishing in a time of 30:29.67, and Munsey finished one place behind Davis with a time of 30:33.69.
Daniel Moses (23rd, 31:33.99), Lucas Stocks (24th, 31:53.99), Christopher White (25th, 32:04.26) and Joshua Jones (26th, 32:04.26) rounded out Berry's times.
Georgia College and State University's Daniel Horseman won the race in a time of 27:52.18.
The Vikings are scheduled to return to action Oct. 23 when they host the Southesat Classic on the Berry campus.
