Cooper, James Named Athletes of the Week

ROME, Ga. - Berry College runner Courtney Cooper (Sr., Jacksonville, Fla.) and runner Ryan James (Fr., Belfast, Maine) have been honored as Berry's Athletes of the Week for their performances during the week ending Nov. 14.

Cooper was named Female Athlete of the Week after leading a dominant performance for the Berry women's cross country team, which came away with a first place finish in The Viking Open. Cooper recorded her third win of the season, posting a time of 22:59.01 on a 6K course.  Cooper separated from the pack as she extended a 28 second gap from the next finisher to take the win.

James earned the Male Athlete of the Week honor after helping the Vikings in a second place finish in the Viking Open.  James was the top Viking finisher on the 8K course as he posted an impressive time of 26:42.01. The Vikings missed the first place finish by only one pointed as they earned 35 total points.
