James Paces Vikings as Berry Finishes Seventh

FULL MEN'S RESULTS

Ryan James finished 19th to pace Berry College's men's team as the Vikings finished seventh at the Southeastern Classic Saturday morning on Berry's Clara Bowl course in Rome.

James finished the 8K course in a time of 25:50.67 to garner a top-20 finish in the race that featured 28 teams and 238 runners.

Bryan College won the event with 58 points, while Shorter's Paul Chelimo was the first runner to finish.  Chelimo recorded a time of 23:59.93.

James was one of 15 Berry runners to compete in the event. Teammates Bert Harrison, Matthew Rego, Peyton Hoyal, Ian Adams and Josh Jones all finished in the top 50.

Harrison finished in a time of 26:08.27 to garner a 35th-place finish.  Meanwhile, Rego (41st, 26:20.35), Hoyal (43rd, 26:21.02), Adams (45th, 26:21.78) and Jones (46th, 26:22.44) all finished within five places of one another. 

Blake Bannister was Berry's seventh runner, finishing 70th overall with a time of 27:01.37.

Other Vikings to compete included Jonathan Horn (72nd, 27:03.74), Chris Mayer (79th, 27:14.02), William Anthony (102nd, 27:40.10), Daniel Moses (113th, 28:04.95), Brandon Davis (118th, 28:10.36), Dylan Musey (159th, 29:18.91),  Lucas Stocks (165th, 29:33.57) and Chris White (176th, 29:53.94).

Berry finished with 168 total points.

Bryan's score was 10 points better than second place Embry-Riddle, which finished with 68.  Shorter was third at 115, followed by West Florida (148), Savannah Colege of Arts and Design (159), Indiana Wesleyan (161) and Berry.  Milligan (175), Berea (202) and Marian (268) rounded out the top 10.

Berry is scheduled to return to action Nov. 13, when it hosts the Viking Classic.
