Swim & Dive Close Home Competition with Viking Classic

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Rounding out the seventh annual Viking Classic, the Berry College men's and women's swimming and diving teams finished second and third, respectively on Saturday afternoon.


• The men's team finished second to only Birmingham-Southern College, scoring 612 points in the meet. 
• The Viking's relay team of Mac Stovall, Jackson Parker, Garrison Bemis and Joey Ellwanger started the meet with a 1:28.34 first place finish in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay. The same relay team added an additional first place finish in the 400-Yard Medley Relay, as well as the 400-Yard Freestyle Relay also. 
• Robbie Ellwanger finished first in the 100-Yard Breaststroke 1:00.42.
• Bemis finished first as well in the 100-Yard Backstroke in 55.12.
• Bemis, Stovall and Parker finished first, second and third, respectively in the 50-Yard Freestyle in 22.04, 22.60 and 22.70.
• Stovall then led the group in the 100-Yard Freestyle with a 48.95 first place finish.
• Bemis, Stovall and both Ellwangers also added an additional first place finish in the 200-Yard Medley Relay in 1:38.47.


• The women's team finished third with 546.5 points, behind both Birmingham-Southern College and Converse College.
• Sarah Pierce started the Vikings off with a win in the 500-Yard Freestyle in 5:23.09.
• Josie Hadaway added a first place finish in the 200-Yard Individual Medley Relay as well, finishing in 2:12.43. Hadaway also finished first in the 200-Yard Breaststroke as well in 2:31.87.
• Frankie Reda and Sydney Partlow led the Berry College women's diving team, finishing first and second, respectively in the one-meter diving. Reda finished with 349.35 points, while Partlow finished with 269.25 points.

The Vikings will travel to Birmingham, Ala. for the Southern Athletic Association Conference Championships beginning on Wednesday, February 8.
