ROME, Ga. – Berry (4-0) used three first-half goals to propel itself to its second 4-0 victory in as many days, this one coming against Averett University (1-2-1) on a sunny Sunday afternoon at Ford Field.

Berry got on the board quickly as junior Kyle Fitting fired a shot into the goal at 1:28 off fellow junior Matt Majestic's corner kick. The score marked Fitting's first career goal. Later, sophomore Zak Wallingford added his third goal of the season at 34:30. Senior Ben Ortman then took advantage of Averett goalkeeper Nate Barker's misplay to tack on a score at 42:11, his first since 2010.

"We played really, really well again in the first half," said Berry head coach Richard Vardy. "We started strong yesterday, and we started very strong again today. The whole team was defending well, and I think we probably looked as sharp with the ball as we have all season so we're moving in the right direction."

Senior Bryan Sandidge accounted for Berry's last goal when he headed the ball in off junior Matt Seib's corner kick at 84:25.

"We have been working a little bit harder in preseason and earlier in the year to try and score more on free kicks and corner kicks," said Vardy of the two goals that were set up by corner kicks.

Berry will continue its four-game homestand on Thursday against Covenant at 5 p.m.
