JACKSON, Miss. -- Blake Gwizdalski scored five goals as the Berry College men's lacrosse team beat Millsaps, 15-2, on Sunday.
The Vikings closed regular-season play with at 11-4 and finished 6-1 in the Southern Athletic Association. BC shares the conference crown with Sewanee and Centre, which also finished 6-1.
"We are very excited about being SAA co-champs, especially it being the inaugural year of conference play," said Berry Head Coach Chris Delfausse. "I don't think a lot people thought we'd be in this position, but our guys worked hard and believed in themselves."
BC led in shots 42-33, but the home club had the edge in ground balls (27-24) and faceoffs (14-7).
Millsaps dropped to 5-8, 2-5. Chris Hood had 15 saves to lead the Majors.
"It wasn't our best effort, but we did what we needed to do in order to get the win," said Berry Head Coach Chris Delfausse. "The two-game road weekends are really hard on the guys. But now it's on to the SAA tournament."
The Vikings host an SAA quarterfinal match--against Millsaps--on Saturday at 3 p.m.
