Oglethorpe shot a torrid second round of 284 and overtook Methodist by seven shots for the team title with a 571 total. Huntingdon was third with a score of 589. Guilford carded a 597 and placed in fifth, two shots behind the Vikings.
OU's Anthony Maccaglia was the medalist with a two-day 138. He fired a minus-five 67 on Tuesday, and placed one stroke ahead of Christopher Newport's Brian Jaeger (139).
"I'm really proud of the guys for putting together two good rounds, especially today's round as we had to throw out a 76," said Berry Head Coach Brian Farrer. "We have seen a lot of good golf shots and smart decision-making. That translates to better golf scores and competing with the top programs in the country. After finishing fourth in this week's event--behind the number one and two teams in country and Huntingdon--I feel very good about the direction of this program."
