Three Student-Athletes to Join Berry Golf Team in the Fall
Berry College golf coach Brian Farrer has announced that incoming freshmen Jacob Paquet, Tommy McCloskey and Jeremy Parker have declared their intention to enroll at Berry in the fall and continue their academic and athletic careers at the college.
Paquet is a senior at Harrison High School in Kennesaw, which he helped lead to a regional championship and a third-place finish in the Georgia State Championship a year ago.
He has also competed in numerous American Junior Golf Association and Southeastern Junior Golf Tour events.
Paquet finished third at an SJGT event at Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw in 2011, and also advanced to the quarterfinals of an SJGT match play event at Grand National Golf Course in Opelika, Ala., last year.
McCloskey is finishing his prep career at Hilton Head Preparatory School in Hilton Head Island, S.C., after transferring to the school from Algonquin Regional High School in Northborough, Mass., prior to the 2011-12 academic year.
Between the two schools, McCloskey has participated on the golf, baseball, track and field and ski racing teams during his high school career. He is also an honor student.
McCloskey served as the captain of his golf team and was named to the T&G Golf All-Star Team.
Parker is a senior at Lowndes High School in Valdosta, which he helped lead to the Class AAAAA state championship as a junior, and regional titles in each of his first three seasons of high school.
Last year, Parker was named one of Golf Georgia's Most Improved Junior Golfers.
He has competed in numerous American Junior Golf Association, Southeastern Junior Golf Tour and Georgia Junior PGA events, and carries a tournament scoring average of 77.
Parker is as accomplished in the classroom as he is on the golf course, earning honor roll distinction every year of his high school career.
