Berry's Men's Golf Team Adds Two For Next Year

Berry College golf coach Brian Farrer announced Thursday that Ty Hampel of Whitefield Academy in Mableton and Drew Kosko of Sarasota (Fla.) High School have declared their intention to attend Berry and compete on the golf team beginning in the fall of 2012.

Hampel is a four year letter winner at Whitefield Academy who helped lead his team to a ninth-place finish at the state championship tournament as a junior.

An All-County honorable mention selection on the high school level last year, Hampel also competes in several junior amateur tournaments throughout the south. He finished third at the Hilton Head qualifier and fourth at the SJGT Championship in Opelika, Ala. Hampel also made the cut at the U.S. Junior Amateur.  In all, Hampel averaged 77.5 strokes per round in AJGA, SJGT, Atlanta Junior and other tournaments in 2011.

Hempel serves as president of the National Honor Society at Whitefield Academy and volunteers in several service activities and ministry opportunities.

Like Hampel, Kosko is a four year letter winner on the golf course, and has also played on the varsity basketball team at Sarasota for three years.

Kosko is also a member of the National Honor Society. He serves as a youth basketball coach for the Suncoast Basketball League and volunteers at the Child Protection Center.
