Berry Takes Five Strokes Off First Round Score

Berry's Ryan Gambrell shot 74 Monday and moved into the top 20 at the Golfweek Division III Fall Preview at The Raven Golf Club in Sandestin, Fla.

The Vikings are tied for 17th place in the team standings, entering Tuesday's final round with a 36-hole score of 323-318-641.

Gambrell shaved four strokes off his first round score, moving up from 47th place to a tie for 18th at 78-74-152.

The Vikings Alex Irvin also took several strokes off his first round score, following Sunday's 82 with a 78 Monday, putting him at 160 overall and tying him for 61st place.  He is three strokes ahead of teammate Alex Elmore, who has carded an 80-83-163 and is tied for 72nd.

The Vikings' John Hall shot his second straight round of 83, putting him in a tie for 79th place at 166, and Jose Garcia matched his first round 87 in the second round to put him in 89th place at 174.

Guilford owns the top spot on the team leaderboard at 290-296-586, followed by Illinois Wesleyan (298-297-595) and Texas-Tyler (291-304-595), Oglethorpe (303-305-608) and Rhodes (296-313-609).

The 54-hole tournament concludes Tuesday.
