Alex Irvin, Berry Finish Second at Spring Reeder Cup
Alex Irvin shot 76 for the second consecutive day to tie for second place in the individual standings and lead Berry to a second place team finish at the Spring Reeder Cup, hosted by Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Ga., Tuesday.
Irvin finished the 36-hole tournament with a 76-76-152 score, six strokes behind individual medalist Hudson Keener of LaGrange.
LaGrange won the team championship, shooting 311-314-625 to hold off the Vikings by four strokes. Berry shot 310-319-629.
Rhodes (316-320-636), West Georgia (308-330-638) and Covenant (323-324-647) rounded out the top five in the nine-team event.
Irvin was one of two Berry players to finish in the top 10, joining Tim Kim, who shot 76-80-156 and tied for sixth.
The Vikings' Alex Elmore tied for 14th by shooting 77-83-160, one total stroke ahead of teammate Chadd Reynolds, who shot 81-80-161 and tied for 18th. Berry's fifth player, Jose Garcia, tied for 40th at 89-89-178.
Three Berry players competed individually. Jason Terranova shot 82-84-166 to tie for 26th, John Hall tied for 28th by carding a total score of 82-85-167, and Jared Hall shot 88-86-174 and tied for 35th.
The Vikings wrap up the spring season April 11-12 at the Stone Mountain/Emory Invitational.
