ROME, Ga. – The Vikings hosted Birmingham-Southern at home on Friday night. They fought hard to obtain the win, but fell short 87-71 when the final buzzer sounded.
The Vikings put up a valiant effort and the deficit only increased by one, so they played the Panthers even in the final half. Smoak and Jacobs led the Vikings in points with 22 and 20 respectively. Thomas finished with a game-best 26 points for the Panthers.
"I was pleased with our effort," said Berry Head Coach Jeff Rogers "That's never a problem, but right now we are just focused on marrying our effort with execution."
Berry dropped to 3-15 overall and 0-7 in the Southern Athletic Association. With the win, Birmingham-Southern improved to 11-6 overall and 5-2 in SAA play.
The Vikings' next game is Sunday at 3 p.m. as they look to defend home court against Millsaps.
