Soumahoro Earns Team of the Week Recognition

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. — After earning the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Special Teams Player of the Week award earlier this week, senior defensive lineman Mamadou Soumahoro has earned Team of the Week recognition for the first time this season.

The Lawrenceville, Ga., native finished the game with three tackles and a pair of sacks, but came up big for the Vikings by blocking two extra point attempts to keep points off the board for the Panthers. Berry's 35-18 win over Birmingham-Southern clinched the program's second straight SAA title and the program's first NCAA postseason berth.

Sitting at 14 straight games, Berry now has the third longest active streak in NCAA Division III and ranks among the national top 10 in rushing defense (58.0 yds/game). Soumahoro leads the SAA and is tied for sixth in NCAA Division III with 10 sacks on the year.

The Vikings are back in action on Nov. 11th against Trinity at home for the final game of the regular season. Playoffs will begin on Nov. 18th.
