Margaret Knight has built Berry's equestrian program into one of the premier teams in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association. In 2011, she led the school's Western riders to an IHSA National Championship.
The head coach of the Berry College equestrian team since the team's varsity beginnings in 2007-08, Knight has led the Lady Vikings to incredible heights, advancing to the IHSA National Championships in each of the first three varsity seasons.
During the 2009 season the Lady Vikings finished the year seventh in Hunter Seat Competition and were fifth in the Western Horsemanship Competition. In 2012, the Western Team finished 4th at Nationals, while hunter seat rider Kristin Brennan was named National Champion in Novice on the Flat. Knight originally served as the head coach of college's club team for the previous nine years and has had remarkable success.
Knight graduated from the University of the South in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spanish. She then attended Middle Tennessee State from 1993 to 1995 where she obtained a degree in education.
Kinght's riding background is primarily hunter/jumper and hunt seat equitation. She has been involved with the IHSA since her freshman year in college.
