Western Equestrian Team Headed to Nationals

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Berry College Western Equestrian Team traveled to Buffalo, New York, this weekend to compete at semifinals, finishing second to secure a spot at Nationals and a chance to defend their National Championship title.

The team also has six individual riders going to Nationals.

INDIVIDUAL RESULTS:

Reining Horsemanship:

BERRY STANDOUTS:

  • Going into the final class Berry was tied for third with only the top three teams qualifying for Nationals. Senior Elizabeth Poczobut finished strong for the Vikings with her open horsemanship win pushing Berry into second place.

NOTABLES:

  • All classes except for reigning and advanced horsemanship had 16 riders with the top four finishers qualifying for nationals.
  • Poczobut was also the region high point western rider qualifying her to compete in the AQHA Cup at nationals.

UP NEXT:

The Hunt Seat team will travel to Ocala FL to compete at the zones finals, and the western team will ride at nationals in Kentucky in May.
