Collin McHugh Recalled by New York Mets

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Collin McHugh, who pitched at Berry College from 2006-08, has been promoted to the New York Mets from the minor leagues.

The right-handed pitcher arrives from Las Vegas of the Pacific Coast League. He has started eight games for the Mets' AAA team and had a 3-2 record. His three wins and 2.74 ERA are the best of the starting pitchers on the team. He has struck out 36 hitters against just nine walks this year.

McHugh became the first Berry graduate to pitch in the big leagues last year. He made four starts for the Mets at the end of last season.

McHugh was drafted out of Berry by the Mets in the 18th round of the 2008 First Year Player Draft. He was 13-9 with five saves for the Vikings during his collegiate career. He joined the Mets organization following his junior year at Berry.

Off the field, Mchugh entertains via social media. His handle @Collin_McHugh now has more than 7,000 followers.
