MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Berry College softball team closed out the regular season with a tough 2-1 loss to the Rhodes College Lynx on the road on Sunday afternoon.
Ava Fouts took the loss pitching a complete game six innings while allowing two runs on five hits while walking one and striking out four.
Kennedy Moody led the offense going 1-for-3 with an RBI.
The Lynx got to the Vikings early as they took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Fouts limited the damage by getting a big strikeout to end the inning. The Vikings looked for a response and had a good chance in the top of the fourth as they put two on with two outs but they were unable to cash in as they continued to trail.Â
The Vikings would finally get on the board in the top of the sixth as Moody crushed a solo home run to make it 2-1. The Vikings looked to feed off that momentum but they were unable to generate any more offense as they fell 2-1.
The Vikings will next head to the SAA Championships in Columbus, GA as the fourth seed and will take on Trinity on Thursday, May 7 at 5:00 PM. The Vikings will likely need to win the tournament to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
