Men Finish 2nd, Women 3rd at Field Day and Multi's

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Berry College men's and women's track and field team wrapped up competition at the Berry Field Day Invitational & Multi's on Saturday afternoon at home. The men took second overall behind Centre and ahead of Emory, Piedmont, Oglethorpe, Covenant and Reinhardt while the women took third overall behind #17 Centre and #4 Emory. The Berry women entered the competition ranked #33. The Vikings seniors were also honored on Saturday afternoon.

The competition started on Thursday with the men's Decathlon and women's Heptathlon. Senior Macy Murdock broke the Berry school record in the Heptathlon finishing in second place with a score of 4599 points. She won the 800m (2:28.73), Javelin (36.51m), 200m (25.94) and started it off by winning the 100m Hurdles with a school record of 14.97. 

Junior Ryan Barch won the Decathlon with a personal record of 5286 points. Barch won the 100m (11.25), Shot Put (9.87m), High Jump (1.74m), 400m (52.86), 110m Hurdles (17.70) and the Pole Vault (3.30m).

Anna Ayers finished 4th in the 1500m with a 4:51.37 while teammate Ella Williams finished 7th with a 4:53.36

T Harris won the men's 1500m with a 4:01.88 just ahead of Tavian Anderson who finished second with a 4:02:12 while Ethan Smith finished with a 4:02.64

Darby Merritt finished 3rd in the 400 Hurdles with a time of 1:07.

Malysha Winston led a contingent of four Vikings to finish in the top eight of the Hammer Throw as she finished third with a throw of 49.23m ahead of Avery Jones who finished with a throw of 45.69m. Onoyeme Egure finished 6th with a throw of 42.38m while Madeline Campbell was 7th with a throw of 41.93m

Freshman Laney Ray set a new personal record in the Women's Triple Jump with a distance of 11.23m.

Dawson Livingston won the Hammer Throw with a mark of 54.19m while teammate Bryce Toomer finished in eighth with a throw of 45.28m.

Murdock finished second in the Javelin, increasing her distance from the Heptathlon with a mark of 39.03m while teammate Ayla Husby threw a personal record to take fourth with a mark of 35.87m.

Freshman Bryce Toomer set a new school record in the Discuss with a throw of 47.42m. 

Freshman Quincy Anderson finished second in the David Shankles Memorial Steeplechase with a new personal record of 9:55.04.

Senior Katie Frankman placed 4th in the 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 13:08.07.

The men dominated the 800 meter with Andy Forsyth winning in a time of 1:53.84 while Ethan Smith finished third in 1:55.91, Caleb Pritchett finished fourth in 1:55.92 and T Harris finished 7th in 1:57.45.

Berkey Powell finished second in the 400m with a new lifetime best 48.38 which is the third fastest time in Berry history. Corbin Dutcher finished 8th with a time of 49.90

Freshman Andrew Popp won the Pole Vault with a clearance of 4.47 meters.

Egure won the Shot Put with a mark of 13.48m while Avery Jones finished fourth with a throw of 12.55m, Malysha Winston finished 6th with a mark of 12.13m and Maddie Denney finished 8th with a mark of 11.53m.

Denney also finished with a personal record in the Discuss finishing 7th with a throw of 37.23m.

Laney Ray and Ella Pine finished 2nd and 3rd in the Pole Vault as both cleared 3.37m.

Kris Williams won the High Jump with a mark of 1.57 meters while Julia Shipes finished just behind in third with the same mark.

Clay Robinson finished second in the Javelin with a mark of 56.24m while Kevin Krum finished 8th with a mark of 46.57m.

Livingston finished 6th in the Shot Put with a mark of 13.25m while Bryson Hill finished right behind in 7th with a mark of 13.22m.

Reese Beckner finished second in the 100 meter Hurdles in a time of 15.39.

Lucas Casaletta-Holmes finished 5th in the 100 meter Dash with a time of 10.87 while Zion Gervais finished 7th in 10.96. Both again finished strong in the 200 meter with Holmes finishing 4th in 22.00 while Gervais finished 6th in 22.29.

The Women's 4x400 Relay team of Julianne Shirley, Darby Merritt, Laney Ray and Macy Murdock placed third with a new school record of 4:01.85.

The Men's 4x400 Relay team of Tommy Bourdeaux, Corbin Dutcher, Cam Hewling and Berkey Powell won with a time of 3:18.
